Research interests: The development of techniques and environments to perform multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) of aerospace systems. The work in our group attempts to reach this goal using high-fidelity modelling such as field CFD methods for aerodynamics and FEM models for structural calculations.

Area of specialization: comparative urban history of Mexican Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, and Euro-Americans; also, the study of how race, culture, class and ideology have shaped the Chicano experience.

Other research interests: social history of Chicanos in California cities; biographies of Latina civil rights and labor activists Luisa Moreno and Josefina Fierro; race and ethnicity in the American experience; poverty and homelessness.

Research interests: The interplay between brain development and stress vulnerability via a multi-method approach that includes psychophysiology, neuroimaging, neuroendocrinology and phenomenology. Treatment development that focuses on individual and community-based interventions for stress related conditions in children and adolescents that experience traumatic stress.
